Bolton Bashing

"If this is the way you stick up for your friends, I would hate to see what you do to your enemies." 

I am sure this is what UN nominee John Bolton is probably mumbling to himself about now. 

Mr. Bolton is the perfect guy for the position opening - aggressive, no nonsense, and ready to hit the ground running.   Just the person needed to bring transparency and accountability to a sewer of corruption, greed, and down right incompetence.

One man obviously can not change the UN over night, but John Bolton can certainly start chipping away at the grim residue. 

To be fair, I'm not mad at what the Democrats are doing here...I expect it from the party of no ideas.   I detest and abhor the total lack of stones by members of the GOP. 

The Wall Street Journal offers an informative Op-Ed today....

This smear campaign is all the more offensive because it is designed to avoid a genuine policy debate. Mr. Bolton, who has worked as a diplomat in two different Administrations, is being sent by Mr. Bush to lead a reform of the U.N. that desperately needs it if it is going to be effective. His skills helped repeal the U.N.'s "Zionism is racism" resolution in the early 1990s, and more recently he ran the successful and innovative Proliferation Security Initiative that helped put Libya out of the WMD business. But Democrats don't want to debate that record, because they know they'd lose. So they have set about to destroy Mr. Bolton personally instead.

The Rising of the East

If we look at recent global history and I mean the last 500 years.   Western Civiliazation has dominated - from the rise of Europe to the expansion around the globe and eventually the new world and the United States.    James Pinkerton discusses China and what the West is in store for in the coming century.   With China and India agreeing to recent pacts - what should we be watching for in the future.

Good Lesson for Pols in the Future

With cooperation from a willing and able liberal media - a tag-team effort led by Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy and other Liberal Dems - are gaining ground in tarring Majority Leader Tom Delay.    Mr. Delay is not without faults- and has at times played close to the ethical electric fence, but certainly not to enough to merit the negative attention. 

There is one reason for the bulls-eye on Mr. Delay...and Tony Blankley spells it out this morning in his Op-Ed.   

"Mr. DeLay has been the most effective majority whip in living memory, never having lost a vote. He has engineered passage of every vital piece of Bush legislation as majority leader (sometimes with as little as a single hard-sought vote difference). By his tough work in Texas he has almost assured Republican control of the House for at least another decade. (I say "almost," because a party of nitwits and cowards is capable of throwing away anything.) And he has done what every able leader of men has been doing since the dawn of man -- he has gone hunting and brought home the meat to nourish the whole tribe. Yes. Money: The lawful collecting of which is the essential condition to politically function. If a political party doesn't have money, it doesn't have a chance. "

Victory possible in WOT ?

Austin Bay is one of the most read bloggers in the world.   His blog and or interview today w/ a senior US military official is worth reading.   

Most would agree this is more than a military and intelligence matter...and it certainly will continue for the forseeble future but eventually sane, moderate and peace-loving Muslims will have to stand against religious buthchers. 

Karol Wojtyla

The man known to world as Pope John Paul II is near death.  I am not a Catholic - but I am a great admirer of this man.   He saw evil and denounced.  His unapologetic expression of faith and attempts to lift up the oppressed lead many to follow and listen to his every action.  His collaboration with President Reagan to bring the end of the Cold War will hopefully someday be fully revealed.
